77th Season at TigerTown in Lakeland Highlighted by Visits from Yankees and Nationals

DETROIT – The Detroit Tigers today announced the club’s exhibition game schedule for 2013 Spring Training in Lakeland, FL.

Next spring will mark the Tigers 77th season at TigerTown in Lakeland, extending the longest-standing relationship between a major league team and a current Spring Training host city. The 2013 spring season marks the club’s 48th consecutive season of exhibition play at Joker Marchant Stadium.

The Tigers will begin the exhibition schedule on the road against the Atlanta Braves on Friday, February 22. The club opens the home portion of the Grapefruit League schedule against the Toronto Blue Jays at Joker Marchant Stadium on Saturday, February 23rd at 1:05 p.m.

The schedule is highlighted by a visit from the American League East Division Champion New York Yankees on March 23 and two visits from the National League East Division Champion Washington Nationals on March 10 and March 17. The schedule also features multiple visits from the Atlanta Braves (February 27 and March 26) and Tampa Bay Rays (March 19 and 29) and two additional visits from the Toronto Blue Jays (March 6 and March 15).

Joker Marchant Stadium will host an additional game on Tuesday, March 5 as Detroit Tigers minor league players face the baseball team from Western Michigan University at 1:05 p.m. All tickets will be general admission and priced at $5 per ticket. All proceeds will benefit the Detroit Tigers Foundation of Florida.
