DETROIT – The Detroit Tigers today announced the club has traded righthanded pitcher Lester Oliveros to the Minnesota Twins as the player to be named later to complete yesterday’s trade in which outfielder Delmon Young was acquired.
Oliveros appeared in nine games with the Tigers in 2011, posting a 5.63 ERA (8.0IP/5ER). He posted a 1-3 record, 6.43 ERA (28.0IP/20ER) and five saves in 22 appearances with Triple A Toledo. Oliveros saw action in 10 games with Double A Erie, compiling a 2-0 record, 0.53 ERA (17.0IP/1ER) and 28 strikeouts.
Oliveros will be assigned to Triple A Rochester by the Twins organization.
